Best Lemon Lime & Bitters Recipe for Dry January – Through the Mixing Glass

Dry January rolls on! How’s everyone doing as we head towards the end of week 1? I don’t know about you, but I am definitely ready for February to get here!

For the second episode of my Dry January series, I’m putting the Through the Mixing Glass spin on the Lemon Lime & Bitters, a classic non-alcoholic mixed drink. As best I can tell this drink has its origins in Australia where it remains popular in the golf community as a post-round refreshment. After drinking these for the past few months, I can definitely see why! It’s tart, crisp and amazing on a hot day. Or a cold, dry January day.

Upper West Side Lemon Lime Bitters
1 oz lime cordial (recipe below)
1/2 oz simple syrup (or to taste)
Top with sparkling water
3-4 dashes of Angostura bitters on top

**NOTE: As I explain in the video, Angostura DOES have alcohol in it. I am OK adding it to this drink during Dry January given that it is is just a few dashes. But if you are going cold turkey and don’t want to do that, I would suggest floating a 1/4 oz of grenadine on top of your LLB instead.
