The Western Sour is a tiki drink only because it’s not a whiskey sour — that basically means we are using lime instead of lemon, it includes falernum (which is popular in tiki drinks) and… well, that’s really what does it. Now, a whiskey sour with some of the standard trade spices, ginger, allspice, clove, those are not unknown to variations on a whiskey sour (or through the use of bitters). However, changing it up to lime and including the spices does give it a bit more summer-focused appeal.
