Memorial Day Cocktails at DPS!!!



Stop by DPS for these Memorial Day Cocktails!

“Sandy Bottoms” (from Food & Wine website)
-2 cups fresh watermelon juice
-1.5 cups Denizen white rum
-.75 cup chilled simple syrup or to taste
-.75 cup fresh lime juice
-.5 cup Peychaud’s bitters or to taste
-Lime wheel for garnish
-Yields six – 7oz cocktails
-Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart pitcher; stir to combine. If not serving immediately, seal well with plastic wrap, and refrigerate up to 2 hours.
-To serve, stir mixture well. Fill pitcher with ice, and stir gently until outside of pitcher is cool. Pour into rocks glasses filled with ice, and garnish each glass with a lime wheel, mint sprig, and small watermelon slice.
-Note – For a less sweet drink decrease simple syrup. For a less bitter cocktail decrease bitters

“Bicicletta” (by the pitcher)
-18oz chilled Capoest Pinot Grigio (or Sauvignon Blanc)
-12 oz chilled Bitter Liqueur – Luxardo, St. George or Campari
-Chilled Soda water, to top
-Orange wheel garnish
-Yields 6 cocktails
-Combine first 2 ingredients in a 2-quart pitcher; stir to combine. If not serving immediately, seal well with plastic wrap, and refrigerate up to 2 hours.
-To serve, stir mixture and pour into a double rocks or wine glass. Fill the glass three-quarters with ice, top with soda water, and stir gently.
Garnish with an orange wheel

Bonus Recipe – “Planter’s Punch”
-3 oz dark rum (
-1 oz simple syrup
-.75 oz fresh lime juice
-1 teaspoon grenadine
-3 dashes Angostura bitters
-1 splash soda water
-Mint sprig garnish
-Yield– 1 cocktail, Multiply by 8 for a batch
