Pimm's Cup | How to Drink

This Mother’s Day give your mom what she really wants at brunch: Alcohol. Today I present the brunch staple: the Pimm’s Cup!

The Pimm’s cup is a low ABV long drink that’s a bouquet of fruit and vegetation stuffed in a glass (or pitcher) and built over crushed ice. It’s delicious and fun to drink and I’m sure you’ll love it. Pimm’s is a liqueur produced by adding spices and botanicals to Gin (at least in the case of Pimm’s #1, Pimm’s #2-#6 utilize different base spirits) and it’s the official drink of Wimbledon. It’s a mildly earthy, herbaceous, sophisticated tasting sip, and it’s downright good. Presentation in this cocktail is sort of key though, like a gentlemen from Surrey a Pimm’s must be properly dressed. Feel free to go wild with the fruit and veg here. Temper you’re inclinations to turn this into a baseball game Bloody Mary though: hold the pickles and bacon.

In the UK they’s say this drink is made using “Lemonade” but their definition of Lemonade is way different than ours here in the states. In the US we typically use some kind of lemon-lime soda, like Spirte or 7up. But we can and should do better, look to something more bitter like Fever Tree or San Pelegrino.
