Today you’ll learn how to make a delicious variation of the most popular cocktail in the world – a Rum Old Fashioned with Chocolate. Also, do you know what the first definition of a “cocktail” was? You’ll find out in this episode! For this cocktail I used one of the most awarded rums in the world – Diplomatico Exclusiva Reserva. Chocolate notes pair nicely so I used homemade chocolate and coffee bitters and garnished with a small piece of dark chocolate. I also used a Regal stir technique to add some citrus notes. All that makes for a delicious cocktail.
And don’t forget, July 11th marks the World Rum Day, so treat yourself that day with a good rum Old Fashioned!
Don Junacho Old Fashioned:
• 50 ml (1 2/3 oz) Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
• 1 bar spoon rich demerara syrup
• 3 dashes chocolate bitters
• 1 dash coffee bitters
• orange peel (Regal stir)
• chocolate with sprinkled salt for garnish
To make rich simple syrup combine 2 parts sugar to 1 part water.
Enjoy responsibly.
