Tiki Cocktail: Lorikeet



The Lorikeet was created by Bartender Shannon Mustipher for Glady’s a Jamaican Jerk Chicken restaurant in Brooklyn, NYC where she is the Beverage Director and Bar lead. Charleston born Mustipher decided that Hospiatality was her calling after executing an elaborate dinner party with friends which was, according to the website PUNCH, inspired by the Stanly Tucci movie Big Night (1996). She also co-founded a spirits education organization called Women Leading Rum and a tiki pop-up called Women Who Tiki. When you guys are in New York you should stop by and have some of her cocktails! I know I will!

My love for this cocktail knows no bounds! Boasting of tropical flavors and the barrel aged heaven of my favorite Bonded Rye Whiskey this drink has made it into my regular rotation. The Lorikeet itself is inspired by both the Jungle Bird and Julep in case you couldn’t tell and is named after a species of bird native to Australia and Southeast Asia.

.75oz (22.5ml) Lemon Juice
.25oz (7.5ml) Cinnamon Syrup
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
6 Dashes Peychauds Bitters
Orange Twist
Pineapple Leaf Garnish
