History

History is a fascinating subject “Diego Zamora, his brother and sister, Angel and Josefina Zamora, and Josefina’s husband, Emilio Restoy, created it in 1946. [1] According to the Licor 43 website, the Liqvor Mirabilis (marvellous liquid) was a golden, aromatic elixir made and infused from local fruits and plants in Carthago Nova during the third century. When the Romans seized the province in 209 BC, they came across Liqvor Mirabilis; despite the Romans outlawing its manufacture and consumption, the Carthaginians continued to produce in secret. [2] The development of Licor 43 by the Zamora was inspired by this narrative.”

What exactly is Licor 43?


“Licor 43 is a bright yellow Spanish liqueur with a vanilla flavor that was created in 1946 by the Zamora family, based on an ancient recipe. Cuarenta y Tres is another name for it (43 in Spanish). It gets its name from the 43 plants and botanicals that go into making it.”

“Licor 43 has become Spain’s most popular liqueur, and it is also popular throughout Europe. It’s also popular in Mexico, where it’s used to make a Carajillo (spiked coffee).”

What is the flavor of Licor 43?

“A “mini-beer” is a Licor 43 cocktail that is meant to look like a beer. Licor 43 is primarily filled into a small pint glass, which is then topped with a chilled dairy-based drink such heavy cream or Irish Cream. The amber color of Licor 43 is similar to that of a pale beer, and the white color of the dairy product is similar to that of a beer’s foamy head. The “Sandrillo,” which consists of licor 43 mixed with whole milk, is a popular cocktail variation in Mexico.”
