Today we are going show you how to age spirits with oak and other styles of wood using the Barrel Char in a Jar aging kit. Aging and flavoring your liquor and alcohol is fun and easy to do–you don’t have to distill anything.
We used the Complete Kit from Barrel Char Jar to oak age some products from Cruzan Rum, Everclear, and a bit of gin.

Aging your spirits doesn’t have to be complicated, it’s actually quite simple to do with a few materials to get the job done. Wood Staves / Oak Chips and other methods make it easy to add wood influence to your spirits and age them at home, saving your money.
Some spirits are going to age better than others, higher proof spirits age quickly but alcohol takes on aging without too much work and you can take an unaged (or lightly aged) product and give it years of flavor in under a month.
You don’t have to be a distiller to age spirits, oak aging and aging with wood is cake.
