Smuggler’s Cove

Smuggler’s Cove has established itself as one of the world’s top rum and unusual cocktail attractions when it first opened its doors in 2009. We provide our guests with a creative new approach to rum by offering the largest rum variety in the United States, as well as cocktails inspired by rum’s three-century history. Our dramatic and inviting decor mixes classic tiki artifacts amid old nautical and rum décor, providing a dramatic and appealing getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle. Local designer Ignacio “Notch” Gonzalez of Top Notch Kustoms, who previously designed the spectacular gin bar Whitechapel, brought the aesthetic to life magnificently.

Smuggler’s Cove is a multi-award-winning attraction. We’re excited to share our love of rum and unique cocktails with you.

Our staff’s longevity is a monument to their commitment to our concept and delight in being a part of the great legacy of exotic cocktail bars.

Martin Cate, the owner and inventor of Smuggler’s Cove, is a rum and exotic cocktail expert. With his wife Rebecca Cate, he co-authored “Smuggler’s Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum, and the Cult of Tiki” (Ten Speed Press, June 2016). Martin is an avid rum collector who travels the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean giving educational seminars and officiating rum and cocktail competitions. Martin founded Whitechapel in San Francisco in 2015 with partners Alex Smith and John Park to bring the same enthusiasm for history and craft to the world of gin. He’s also a partner in Lost Lake in Chicago and co-owner of Hale Pele in Portland and False Idol in San Diego.

There’s a book about Smuggler’s Cove now! Smuggler’s Cove provides everything you need to turn your world into a Polynesian Pop fantasia, whether you’re seeking for a new favorite drink (over 100 recipes included! ), suggestions on how to deck out your home tiki grotto, help stocking your bar with fine rums, or inspiration for your next tiki party.

Over 80 exotic and traditional concoctions, both classic and modern, are offered, all crafted with premium spirits (including special rums found nowhere else), house-made ingredients, and 100 percent fresh citrus juiced in-house every day.

On our menu, you’ll find everything from ancient colonial tavern tipples to elegant Prohibition-Era Havana beverages, the best exotic cocktails of the tiki era, traditional Caribbean masterpieces, and contemporary & refined rum libations. Even our most sophisticated exotic cocktails with 8-12 ingredients are created fresh to order, never in batches.

If you believe you’re up for it, we’ll give you a special punch card to keep count of how many cocktails you’ve had at Smuggler’s Cove. If you finish the entire menu, you’ll earn the title of Voyager of the Cove and receive a special gift and merit badge!

It’s created in at least sixty nations from a variety of raw ingredients in various types of stills, aged at various temperatures, and in various types of wood. At any one time, Smuggler’s Cove has approximately 550 rums on its shelves, and more than 800 variations have passed through our doors since we first opened. Rare and vintage rums, as well as many exclusive, handcrafted rums manufactured exclusively for Smuggler’s Cove by distillers and blenders in California, Oregon, Europe, and the Caribbean, are among our offerings.

Through our rum club, the Rumbustion Society, we are proud to have developed a community of educated rum fans, and we invite you to come in and learn more about the wonderful world of rum!

Last night, I celebrated my husband’s 65th birthday on your terrace. I wanted to tell you how much fun everyone had; the service was fantastic, everyone was well-prepared, and the food was delicious and served on time. Congratulations to the servers! Rachel and Dakota were a pleasure to work with, and they were really friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making my husband’s birthday so enjoyable and unforgettable!

Nope. You will not find a better cocktail and rum collection anyplace on the earth. However, there are a lot of excellent eateries within a couple of blocks.

I stayed with my spouse and two girls for a week and had a great time! The unit is fantastic! The pool is clean, updated, and has everything you could want or need! The setting is wonderful, and we even got to witness four dolphins playing in the gulf from the deck!! I’d love to come back!!

We have been coming to Fort Myers Beach for the past ten years and enjoy it. We’ve stayed on both sides of Estero and in a variety of locations. We enjoy going for runs on the beach, taking walks to Happy Hour, and riding our bikes up and down the road. It’s a terrific, central, QUIET position away from the busy places, but close enough to join in the action when you want to.

The people in the buildings, both tourists and residents, are really friendly. Between Publix and CVS, it’s in a good spot, plus it’s close to some good eateries (Charley’s, Pinchers). Excellent beach, nice pool, ideal for families with small children.

The Smuggler’s Cove Inn was an excellent choice for a stay. We went for our anniversary and got pier room 31, however I think all of the rooms would be fantastic. Breakfast was excellent, and we had a good time enjoying a few drinks at the pub one evening. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat because of the courteous personnel and wonderful property.

We stayed for two nights and had a great time. I can’t wait to return! Out back, the sunsets are spectacular!!

As part of a “girls’ weekend,” a friend and I stayed here. For us, this was a last-minute booking, and boy were we fortunate! On behalf of this very unique location, I’m a little upset. This house is charming and simple, with plenty to do. We had planned to go out to lunch when we initially arrived. However, the VIEW, as well as the adirondack chairs on the little (typical Mid-coast Maine) beach and the friendly restaurant, tempted us to remain the night. You can sip wine by the bay, relax by the fire pit, swim in the heated pool, dine on exquisitely prepared cuisine, and explore the water in a complimentary kayak. The rooms are clean and refurbished, although they are clearly outdated motel accommodations. The porches are fantastic! It is a truly pleasant, simple yet well-executed accommodation. I also have to address the workers. Megan was my first point of contact at registration. She was warm and enthusiastic about the Inn. The restaurant staff was quite accommodating, and the meal was some of the best I’ve eaten in a long time. The lobster nachos are incredible. Several times during my stay, the word “hospitality” came to mind. I travel for work and stay in hotels frequently. In most cases, all I require and expect is a clean room and attentive service. This stood out a lot. I can’t wait to go back with more pals this time. Less reading

Surfing is great here. You can go for a swim if you have your wetsuit on. A fantastic location for a beach bonfire. Tide pools are fun to explore.

One of the more secluded beaches on the Oregon coast is Oswald West State Park’s beach. Because most tourists stay around Canon Beach and Seaside, Oregon, this hidden gem sees very little traffic.

There is lots of parking, a bathroom, and a drinking fountain in the parking lot, which is located on the highway. You hike for about a half mile beneath the motorway and down a well-kept path. You eventually get at Smugglers Cove, which is stunning. This could be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Because this is a popular surfing spot, expect to share the water. The beach is much larger than it appears at first appearance, and it is fairly shallow, allowing you to wander quite far out. It’s without a doubt one of the most beautiful places to surf. Leave no trace ethics in practice. At the beach, no camping is permitted.

On the go, find adventures and go camping, share images, use GPX tracks, and download maps to use offline.

On the Oregon coast, there is a fantastic area to surf that is both picturesque and totally great. Friendly people and great energy.

On your trips, always observe local restrictions and adopt Leave No Trace ethics. Please use caution when exploring!
